We have visas
Earlier this week we did a quick overnight trip to Los Angeles to pick up our visas at the Spanish Consulate. So we’re finally able to make our final plans to leave the United States and arrive in Europe! We’ll leave Phoenix on November 1st, take a road trip with stops in Tucson, Marfa, Austin, and Dallas, then fly out of Dallas to Frankfurt on November 8th, followed by a short flight to Barcelona November 10th.
Even though the trip was quick, we took advantage and had a little fun. The evening of our arrival day we had an outdoor rooftop dinner at Perch and enjoyed being in slightly chilly weather after the brutally hot summer we’ve had in Phoenix.

Oddly coincidentally, our hotel room was on the 13th floor also. We usually stay at the Omni downtown, right by the Broad museum and the Disney concert hall. From our room we could just see the Hollywood sign between some buildings!
Another reason we like this hotel is the proximity to Grand Central Market, where I always get a jasmine green tea with rose at Moon Rabbit. We ended up just sitting along the street outside the market and reading for a while, a nice change from all the rushing around to the consulate earlier in the day.
Blade Runner fans will recognize the Bradbury Building. The interior is restored and gorgeous!
