Time

Now that we have mostly settled in, I’m enjoying the luxury of having time. One of my intentions in this year away from a job is to put more time in to my photography. I have been working on a project about Phoenix, which is coming from the raw material of over ten thousand photographs taken around Phoenix since I moved there in September of 2011. So far I’ve whittled the pictures down to roughly 3,300 candidates, so still a ways to go. As I whittle more away, it gets tougher to decide what to keep as a possible pick and what to reject.

The rejected pictures will not necessarily live a hard drive purgatory, they just do not make sense for what I am trying to accomplish with this project. It is intended to illustrate what it felt like for me, living in Phoenix. So there will be some rather unpleasant pictures. But that is the reality this project intends to document.

Here are a couple photographs that will most likely be in the final selection.
