No well done meat for you!

Last Saturday we had dinner at the “meatbar”: Bardeni, near the Sagrada Familia. This place is all about meat, obviously. They will refuse to ruin good meat; a customer asked for a piece of beef to be cooked well done and the staff said No. Good for them. The menu clearly described the meat would be rare for this particular dish. Is this a Spanish cultural thing or just how this restaurant happens to operate? We haven’t been to any additional meat-focused restaurants, so we will have to report on that later. Either way, I like the attitude. The couple spent the entire time doom-scrolling on their phones and barely spoke…. not really the kind of customer the restaurant wants anyway, I imagine. So boring.

I still have not gotten used to going out for a meal, or an errand, or some other daily normal thing, but then seeing spectacular architecture along the way. Last week we went to the bank to open an account, yawn, only to exit the subway station to discover Gaudi’s La Pedrera was just down the street! I love it! It made the boring and not fun errand a bit more exciting.

Another thing I’m loving is how the Catalans do Christmas. Santa is not too often seen, but you do see Caga Tio everywhere. Who wouldn’t love a Christmas log that wears a hat and poops presents? These two are being well-fed and look to be enjoying the attention.

And dogs. So many dogs. Farrah has not ventured in to the subway yet as the crowds and noise may not be to her liking, so we are waiting for a slow day to take her on a short ride and get her used to it.
